Marin Garden Wedding

Allison & Scott: A colorful backyard wedding with Mexican Details

In 2020, this couple had it all planned out: an extravagant destination wedding in the Mexican Riviera surrounded by their family and large community of friends. When Covid hit, they were one of many couples who’s plans got derailed. After several reschedules they came to realize that rather than waiting for their dream wedding in Mexico, they would bring the spirit of Mexico right into their backyard.

This was my first wedding post lockdown. It was a little tense navigating being around people again, but the vibes were so good and there was so much joy in the air that day that it made it easy for me to let my guard down. I had so much pent up creativity and I appreciated the beauty of a wedding in a whole new way. I love seeing the real emotion between people, and a large group being together again after a year of isolation was healing on many levels.

The couple spent their travel budget for Mexico on building the garden of their new home. They planted bougainvillea along their house and in their backyard to add a colorful tropical feel to their wedding. They added Mexican tiles to their outdoor stairway, and served Mezcal cocktails. The taqueria bar was set up right in their kitchen where guests had tacos made to order.
